That's a good assumption, but i've really only ever heard it with negative and unhappy connotations. Never like "potatoing a! This is so much fun!" More like, "potatoing a! I left my wallet on the bus!"

actually i usually hear it in good situations. like "this wallet i found on the bus has 20 dollars in it, potatoing a!

only after the word fuc.king. i've never heard it after any other bad word. But yeah, people say it, but in my experiences mostly young males.
Also, i just googled, and I guess putting the A after potatoing has been around since like the 60s. that seems so strange.
